The 2011 series of country reports on ICT in education has been launched. The reports are drafted based on the information provided by Ministries of Education through an annual questionnaire. This initiative is one of the major activities undertaken by European Schoolnet to gather and analyse information on ICT in education for Ministries of Education across Europe. The main aim of the reports is to foster the active information exchange between Ministries on ICT in education-related topics of common interest. Fifteen country reports of the 2009/2010 series are already published on Insight.

The objective of the European Survey of Schools: ICT in Education
is to benchmark progress in 31 countries (EU27, Iceland, Norway, Croatia and Turkey) in ICT in education by surveying students, head teachers and teachers on the availability and use, including opinions and attitudes, of ICT in schools, thus contributing to the development of updated, relevant and efficient indicators as well as to the establishment of a long-term and continuous monitoring system on ICT access, use and impact.

The LINKED (Leveraging Innovation for a Network of Knowledge on Education) platform is now accessible online. LINKED is a brokerage initiative, aimed at bridging the knowledge and communication gap between researchers, policy makers and practitioners working in the area of ICT in education.

A European Schoolnet (EUN) paper, Are tags from Mars and descriptors from Venus? A study on the ecology of educational resource metadata, was awarded the Best Paper Award at the 8th International Conference for Web-based Learning (ICWL09) in Aachen, Germany, on 19-21 August 2009.

After the presentation of the results of the Games in schools study, European Schoolnet is pleased to announce that The Games in Schools Community of Practice report is now available. The report summarizes the discussions which took place between members of the community in the weeks leading up to the Games in School final conference at the Council of Europe. The Insight thematic dossier explores the place of electronic games in schools.
