EMINENT, European Schoolnet’s annual conference was successfully organised in Vilnius, Lithuania from 26-27 November 2009. Participants from 30 countries, including teachers, policy makers, experts and industry stakeholders, attended the two-day event comprising a series of debates, plenaries and workshops. The conference was opened by Gintaras Steponavicius, Minister of Education and Science of Lithuania.

BESA, the British Educational Suppliers Association carried out a research to evaluate the provision of ICT infrastructure in UK state schools for the years 2009/2010. The report “BESA ICT in UK State Schools 2009 report” gives an up-to-date insight into key topics such as provision of ICT infrastructure, content, Interactive Whiteboards (IWBs), learning platforms, budget allocations and confidence in ICT use and access.

A European Schoolnet (EUN) paper, Are tags from Mars and descriptors from Venus? A study on the ecology of educational resource metadata, was awarded the Best Paper Award at the 8th International Conference for Web-based Learning (ICWL09) in Aachen, Germany, on 19-21 August 2009.

After the presentation of the results of the Games in schools study, European Schoolnet is pleased to announce that The Games in Schools Community of Practice report is now available. The report summarizes the discussions which took place between members of the community in the weeks leading up to the Games in School final conference at the Council of Europe. The Insight thematic dossier explores the place of electronic games in schools.
