As in previous years, this conference brought together leading experts from Ministries of Education and other interested organisations and gave them the opportunity to discuss and share leading edge developments and issues related to technology, new schooling models and co-operation as well as the European dimension in learning.
EMINENT 2005 was also the final conference for the CELEBRATE project and the year’s theme was ICT In Schools: Next generation Issues. Three strands were run through the conference: Content; Schooling and Policy. Topics under discussion included for Content - national approaches to content provision, quality assurance issues, content exchanging and school experience with Learning Objects. The second strand, Schooling, considered issues related to mobile learning and implications for home-school links, national strategies for managing learning, e-portfolios and learner tracking, peer reviewing as a means of supporting change and service-oriented architectures. The third strand, Policy, tackled emerging ICT policy issues, monitoring ICT at all levels, decision-making models and ICT in the new generation of Commission programmes.
Carefully selected plenary sessions with excellent speakers from Europe and beyond gave delegates insights into current issues, and the ceremony for the European Schoolnet's eLearning Awards, for which there were this year over 1,000 entries, showcased excellence across schools in Europe using technology in innovative ways. The ceremony took place in conjunction with the Conference Gala Dinner.
The EMINENT Conferences have proven to be a unique forum for experts and decisions makers to discuss and share ideas with peers.
The next EMINENT Conference will take place in Paris on 8-9 December 2005.
